Event Projection embarked on a spectacular project jointly commissioned by Turner Contemporary and Stour Valley Arts to screen acclaimed artist Bethan Huws latest film “A Marriage in the King’s Forest” in Kings Wood near Ashford, Kent. Event Projection screened the film, shot during a wedding reception at Margate’s Winter Gardens, under a canopy of trees in the wood. The projection weaves together these two contrasting sites, displacing the faded grandeur of the subterranean Winter Gardens in Margate into the natural canopy of King’s Wood. A Marriage in the King’s Forest creates links with the past and projections to the future. The project involved rigging an 18000 Lumen Christie HD18K projector, a 20’X11’6” screen and a PA system from various trees, no mean feat but the results spoke for themselves!
