Video / Audio Distribution

Video/Audio distribution refers to taking a signal and spitting it so that it can be sent to more than one device, a screen, mixer, speaker etc.

Passive distributors (distros)  do not process the signal, there are simply internal connections between the input and all of the outputs and are often fine for 2 or 3 outputs. Amplified distros take the input signal, and electronically split it and process it to ensure the signal is strong across all outputs.

Matrix distribution is an amplified distro that has multiple inputs as well as outputs and any of the inputs can be routed to any of the outputs. These are extremely useful for controlling multiple screens and switching between multiple sources.
