Event Projection were invited to transform the Shire Hall for a Christmas projection mapping show organised by Chelmsford City Council.  Entitled ‘Light up the Shire’, the show saw a series of projections lighting up the historic and iconic building. This was accompanied by a soundtrack of festive music for a three-and-a-half minute show.

The project had many challenges throughout due the harsh winter weather. Most of all though, the far from ideal projector positions and audience viewing angle added to the considerations from the start.

The building had to be bright to stand out. A total of four 20K Projectors illuminated the building with 80,000 Lumens . Avolites AI media servers were used to map the building and playback the content over 4 nights in the run up to Christmas.

Chelmsford City Council were very keen to get involved giving us plenty ideas to work with for content and a creative brief. Christmas-themed projections were created, along with historical and cultural nods to the city. Through the projection mapping audiences were taken on a journey through six different worlds, including Chelmsford’s history as the birthplace of radio, its award of City status and its place as the home of V-Festival.

We would like to say thanks to Mr. Andy Windmill from the Chelmsford City Council events team, and Limbic Cinema for fantastic content.
